Photoshop

We often get asked if we do a lot of photo editing...? I would say yes we rely on our good friends at Adobe on a regular basis. (we use adobe lightroom and adobe photoshop elements) However in order to properly use the editing software we still have to have a quality photo. Here are a couple examples of how Adobe was used. All three of these pictures are actually the same picture.

This one is the SOOC (shot out of camera)
Played around with some lighting angles and converted to a high contrast black and white.
Blew out the exposure, put some "pop" in her eyes and played around with the skin tone.

I think that the editing part is the fun creative part of doing what we do...and Sara, by the way, is probally going to kill me for putting these pictures on here. (but I really liked these photos!)

Winter Sports

Winter is typically a slower time for photo shoots, obviously most people don't want to brave the freezing cold for family photos. However, that doesn't mean that we put the camera away for the winter. It gives us a chance to take the camera to some of the Triton boys and girls basketball games. Both teams are off to a great start and we look forward to supporting them as the season progresses.
Here is a little bit of what we have been up to this past week.

Catching Up

So we have been completely slacking on the blog updates lately!! We have still been busy as ever, still have a few more "fall" sessions to finish up. Not that we are hoping for snow anytime soon but we are really excited that a few people have already asked us about taking snowy wintery pics! We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...here are a few shots from some of the photoshoots we had the last couple of weeks.

Bold Landscapes

Sometimes we get asked what our favorite style/type of photos are. I know some people love black and whites, old fashioned, retro, bold, close ups etc...Although it is hard to pick a favorite, because obviously every situation creates a different perspective of what is being said in the image. We love cranking up the contrast and using big, bold landscapes to naturally frame the picture.  Although we love these styles of photos we also understand that the individual in the image gets lost within those landscapes. But nonetheless they are still our favorites :)

Here are a few examples of some of the bold landscapes we have used in the past.

Weddings...

We've had the privilege of taking photos at THREE weddings this summer!  Never did we imagine we could be wedding photographers!  It sure is a LOT of work, but it sure is an honor to be trusted with such great responsibility. I (Sara) still have nightmares of computers crashing, memory cards malfunctioning, etc. when it comes to providing these finished product to our Brides & Grooms. What in the world would we do?!  THANKFULLY, that has not been an issue. And we've been lucky to photograph some very beautiful weddings at awesome locations.

After a summer of learning what wedding photography involves - we are happy to say that we will be continuing to do weddings in the future.  Our plan, however, is no more than ONE wedding per month due to the amount of time and work it takes to organize and process these photos.  We will also only be offering a CD of the photos to print yourself rather than offering print ordering through us.

We are currently working on an updated wedding package list with new prices for 2012 weddings. But, since we will only be doing ONE wedding per month, if you are interested please let us know asap and we can tentatively put you on our schedule!

N. Shively

Had the chance to get this HANDSOME guy in front of the camera. He did great...typically the attention span of a 6 year old last about 20 minutes during a photoshoot, but he was a natural. He had eyes that any photographer would love, BRIGHT blue! Thanks Nick for being such a trooper...hope we can get you in front of our camera again soon.

Mr & Mrs. P

We had a blast taking pictures at this wedding! :)

Chico has been a friend of Sara's since 5th grade and also a best friend to Sara's twin brother, Steven, since then ... so when Chico and Lauren asked us to do their wedding we were more than happy to say yes!!

They are the cutest, happiest couple...

they danced to old school Boys II Men and All 4 One ... so cute and so Chico!

and the location - Amish Acres in Nappanee - was BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks again, Chico & Lauren!!
